SIMONE STOLL
Born 1967 in Frankfurt/M, Germany; Simone studied in Berlin and in London, where she organised Live Art events. She has lived in Reykjavik and, for many years in Marseilles, France; she lives now again in Frankfurt/M.
My research is based on body and mind, human studies interwoven with personal experience. Earlier in form of painting, I do now concentrate on drawing and video. Many collaborations with neuro-scientists and multi-media artists have nourished my work. There is always a certain intimacy to be found, sometimes rawness, always poetic in search for beauty. I keep the means simple and direct; so I am the performer of my videos and model to photos. Artist-in-residencies like with the Museum of Reykajvik, the Academy of the Arts Berlin and art centers in France situated in a psychiatric hospital, have all been important experiences.
Participations in video festivals and shows in Europe, Canada, Australia and the USA.
In 2007, the Biennale of Québec invited me to participate and I received the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant.
